Fatburger Arrives in North Hollywood
The new location at 11009 Burbank Blvd. opens its doors.

Fatburger has finally arrived in North Hollywood.
After first at 11009 Burbank Blvd. in June, construction on the site has been completed and it has been open for business since Wednesday.
The new location is right on the corner intersection with Vineland Avenue where a flower shop used to be, across the street from and in the same strip mall as .

Fatburger was founded in 1952 and started off as a single location in South Los Angeles on Western Avenue near Jefferson Boulevard, according to an LA Times profile of its founder, Lovie Yancey, who died in 2008 at the age of 96. The location became a popular spot for many celebrities, including Redd Foxx and Ray Charles, and Foxx even frequently referenced Fatburger on his hit television show, Sanford and Son.
In the 1970s, Yancey opened up a second location in Beverly Hills and in 1981 started offering franchise opportunities. According to its Web site, Fatburger currently has 72 locations in the United States, including two nearby in and .
