Free Pancake Breakfast at Faith Presbyterian Church July 4

Turning Pages will also offer flag crafts and give away books.

Faith Presbyterian Church in Valley Village is offering a free pancake breakfast at 8:30 a.m. to kick off the annual Valley Village 4th of July parade. Church and community volunteers will be serving pancakes, sausage, fruit and juice. Everyone in the community is invited to celebrate Independence Day morning with this old-fashioned breakfast, and come and meet their Valley Village neighbors. The church is located at 5000 Colfax Ave., caddy corner from Colfax Charter Elementary School, where the annual parade will begin at 10:00 am.

Reverend Richard Poole has made his church available for many community events, including those for nearby schools, Neighborhood Council Valley Village, pet adoptions, and multiple 12-step meetings.

The youth leadership organization Turning Pages, will have an arts & crafts table in which children can color their own flags and learn fun facts about the American flag. They will also be donating gently-used books to anyone who wants to take them home to read.

“This is becoming our signature – giving away books,” says Landry Malick, Turning Pages Volunteer Coordinator. Led by Colfax 5th grade teacher Gail Craven, the non-profit is made up of youth 5th grade and above who volunteer at homeless shelters, food banks, perform composting and gardening, and tutor struggling students. They will also be accepting books for this event, and any extras will be donated to homeless shelters.
