In 1973, The Who released an album that would change the world, influencing contemporaries and resurfacing later in the grunge movement (Pearl Jam), jam bands (Phish), and even punk (Green Day).  That album, was, of course, Quadrophenia.

Join Laemmle for a free screening of Quadrophenia, the movieat our beautiful new NOHO 7 theater in the heart of the North Hollywood Arts District.  To attend, RSVP AT THIS LINK -- http://www.laemmle.com/rsvp1 -- and follow the on screen instructions.  Please arrive early!  Seats are not guaranteed and are given on a first come, first served basis.

The movie chronicles the alienation of 1960s British working-class youth and features a compelling rock and R&B score, including the hit single "Love Reign O’er Me."  Phil Daniels plays Jimmy, a member of the fashion-conscious "Mod" gang who has frequent run-ins with their arch nemesis, the "Rockers".

The rivalry between the two gangs comes to a head during three tempestuous days in the seaside town of Brighton.  A rock movie classic, Quadrophenia features the music of the Who, James Brown, Marvin Gaye, the Chiffons, Manfred Man, and many others.  It also includes an early appearance by Sting as "Ace Face", an unofficial Mod leader. While not quite reaching Tommy's level of notoriety, many consider Quadrophenia one of the definitive rock films of our time.

The evening is sponsored by Center Theater Group's staging of the Green Day's hit rock opera American Idiot.   Based on the Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum album, American Idiot puts raw emotions front and center in a highly theatrical show that burns up the stage.   Directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer, the production features monster hits like "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", "21 Guns", and "Wake Me Up When September Ends", and more.
