Once again Tamar Galatzan refuses to be accountable to the community that she is supposed to serve. It shows a total lack of fiscal responsibility to purchase $1 billion worth of iPads at a time when the district could only find 10% of the funds promised to the Porter Ranch Community School in it’s initial budget. Stuart Magruder’s “personal judgement” is spot-on in this case and Ms. Galatzan would be wise to spend more time listening to him instead of working so hard to silence his opinion.
It is ironic that Ms. Galatzan feels that it is the Bond Oversight Committee that is “second-guessing decisions made at school sites by teachers and principals.” Afterall, she sits on a board that oversees a bureaucracy that has grown too big to efficiently manage the district. Teachers are routinely put into “teacher jail” or under house arrest for conflicting with the Superintendent that she supports. The parents and teachers that I know would gladly give up the iPads in exchange for the repairs that were supposed to be done with these bond funds.
