Georgina Okon Stars in the Futuristic Thriller 'Fugitive Zero'
The British Actress Finds her Niche in Portraying Unique Characters and in Voiceover Work!

LOS ANGELES – Growing up in Nigeria, Georgina Okon had a passion for music and films. Spending the day listening to music and anxiously awaiting to see the latest films, Okon took this passion all the way to Hollywood where she stars in the upcoming futuristic thriller “Fugitive Zero,” from director/writer Joe Lam (“Our Story”).
Portraying Victoria Dawson, a mother who grieves the loss of her son, Okon taps her emotional and resilient side for the engaging new film. “Fugitive Zero” follows the story of an escaped convict who discovers he's taking part in a live simulation where every moral decision determines his eligibility for parole.
“My biggest challenge was not to get lost or swallowed by this character, grieving the loss her son, but find her fight, her reason for living, her fight to choose to live,” she said. “I knew this would be something special when Joe gave actors the option of changing the dialogue for the audition, so it was a collaboration right from the start.”

Directed, written and produced by Lam, the film also stars Patrick Zeller (“Just One More Kiss”), Bobby C. King (“Card Counter”), Matthew Gilmore (“Medical Police”), Corey Brill (“The Normal Heart”) and Jessica DiGiovanni (“Forever”).
“I like roles that deal with real issues and actually speak to them in a way that can effect change, make an impact, I felt the ‘Fugitive Zero’ was definitely that kind of project,” Okon said.

The film has earned a number of awards at nearly a dozen film festivals – seven awards for Okon alone. Among the honors were Best Supporting Actress for Okon at the Vegas Movie Awards, as well as Best Actor for Okon and Best Writing for Lam at Japan’s Top Indie Films Awards, along with Best Thriller at the New York Movie Awards, among others.
The actress comes to the film after her work in the feature film “The Message,” from writer/director Timothy Armstrong (“Dakota’s Summer”), the film comedy “School Life,” and the 2018 Marvel Studios blockbuster “Black Panther,” as well as many other films and television series.
Her ability to take on unique characters and situations was seen early on in her life when she would perform in school plays and even sing before her appreciative family and school mates in Nigeria. Having earned a specialized diploma in fashion design at Polytechnic,Yaba College of Technology, she moved to the United Kingdom where she returned to acting in independent films, but felt her future was in the U.S. where opportunities for actors abounded.
As she booked more roles, Okon discovered her ability for voiceover work which added a different dimension to her talents. She would go on to provide offscreen voices for the films “Pride and Prejudice: Atlanta,” “Simply Black,” as well as the television series “Mortel,” “Tarragon,” “Scorpion,” and others.
“I love doing voiceovers. It’s all about finding the character’s vocal quality, sound and letting that inform how you flesh out that character,” she said. “It is very freeing in a lot of ways, you don’t have to worry about what your face/body is doing. You use your whole body to deliver that vocal performance, it’s a lot closer to a stage performance in that respect.”
Meanwhile, Okon continues her trajectory having recently been cast in the upcoming film “A Grieving Man” and a recurring role in “Mortel,” which airs on Netflix.
