Hansen Dam Brush Fire Contained
Los Angeles Firefighters were able to hold the blaze burning in dense brush near the Hansen Dam to less than an acre Tuesday.
LOS ANGELES, CA — An aggressive firefighting effort held a small brush fire in the Pacoima area to less than an acre Tuesday morning.
Firefighters stopped the forward progress of a fire near Hansen Dam by 8 a.m., according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart. Firefighters worked to get a handline fully around the perimeter of the fire, and remaining crews were left on scene to monitor hot spots, said Stewart.
Firefighters were initially called to the 11800 block of West Foothill Boulevard at about 7:30 a.m. to douse a quarter-acre fire burning in medium to heavy brush, Stewart said, The blaze was driven by winds of 15 miles per hour.
