Harvard-Westlake Grad Damiene Cain Quits D1 Ball to Focus on School

A freshman at Colorado University, the hoops prep star is ranked as one of top 150 recruits in the nation.

graduate Damiene Cain, who is considered one of the top 150 freshman basketball recruits in the nation, has quit the Colorado basketball squad to focus on academics, according to a report in the Denver Post.

"I feel it's best for me to pursue a college degree without the restrictions and demands that come with being a student-athlete," Cain said in a CU news release.

The 6-foot-7 post player was the in January. The headline was , but it now seems Cain wants to be remembered for more than his skills on the court. He told Patch in January he plans to major in business management and eventually own his own business.
