NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA — A North Hollywood high school student managed to escape a would-be kidnapper on her way to school Monday morning, and the entire incident was caught on tape.
Now police are asking for help trying to identify the man who attempted to abduct her.
The incident was captured on a homeowner's security camera at about 10:20 a.m. Monday in the 8100 block of Whitsett Avenue. It shows the 18- year-old woman walking to John H. Francis Polytechnic High School when the man grabs her from behind, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. She manages to pull away turning her backpack into the man and continuing forward. He continues to follow her, but she takes off running. In the video, it appears as if he is going to give chase, but then thinks better of it and turns back toward his car.
