Injured Hiker And Park Ranger Who Tried To Help, To Be Airlifted

Firefighters were working to rescue two people in Griffith Park after a Park Ranger became ill coming to the aid of an injured hiker.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Firefighters were working to rescue an injured hiker in Griffith Park Tuesday, and a Park Ranger who became ill while working the rescue was also in need of rescue.

A man suffered an ankle injury while hiking the remote Mount Hollywood Trail just before 11 a.m. Tuesday, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey. Due to the steep terrain, crews planned to use a helicopter to hois the pair out of the park for treatment.

"A responding Park Ranger who became ill after hiking to the remote location, will be hoisted aboard a hovering LAFD helicopter for direct transport to an area hospital," said Humphrey.
