Injured Veterans to Cycle 465 Miles from San Francisco Bay Area to Los Angeles for 2014 UnitedHealthcare Ride 2 Recovery California Challenge

North Hollywood veteran embarks on 465-mile ride

Vietnam veteran Mate Gross, from Los Gatos, in a handcycle is pushed by retired Marine John Morlock, from North Hollywood, as they lead a group of injured veterans through Big Sur on Day 3 of a 92-mile ride from Carmel to San Simeon.  The veterans are cycling in the UnitedHealthcare Ride 2 Recovery California Challenge, a 465 mile  journey down the California coast that will arrive on Oct. 11 at the VA West Los Angeles Medical Center.  Ride 2 Recovery provides physical and psychological rehabilitation programs, focusing on cycling as its core activity.  Visit www.ride2recovery.com  (photo credit: Amy Sullivan)
