VIDEO: Krekorian Trying to Restore L.A. as 'Mural Capital of the World'

Councilmembers Ed P. Reyes and Paul Krekorian held a special joint meeting Wednesday at Los Angeles City Hall aimed at finding solutions to the ban on public murals in the city that has been in place since 2002.
Krekorian's office said the purpose of the meeting was to craft an ordinance, consistent with the First Amendment, that permits fine art murals on private property, and thus restores Los Angeles as the "mural capital of the world."
Patch caught up with Krekorian Thursday morning at a ground breaking ceremony for , where he explained what was discussed and decided at the meeting.

The park is just a few blocks from where in April that she had painted in her alley after being notified by the city she would be fined for violating the city's ban on public murals. Black's mural gained attention from media all around the city and brought new focus on the subject.
