LA Mayors Past and Present Among Speakers at Democratic National Convention

Mayor Eric Garcetti and former Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will lend their clout to Hillary Clinton at the Democratic National Convention.

LOS ANGELES, CA - Mayor Eric Garcetti, former Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and four members of Congress in the Los Angeles area are among those speaking next week at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

Reps. Maxine Waters, Ted Lieu, Adam Schiff and Xavier Becerra are among the Los Angeles contingent speaking at the event, which takes place July 25-28.

DNC organizers and Hillary Clinton's campaign released an updated list today of officials speakers that notably included Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a contender for the vice presidential nominee pick who was conspicuously missing from an earlier list.

Garcetti will be one of several major city mayors who will be speaking at the event. The mayors of Atlanta, New York City, Philadelphia, Boston, Detroit and Tallahassee will also be addressing the DNC's attendees.

The among the Los Angeles area elected officials attending or serving other roles at the DNC include City Council members Joe Buscaino, David Ryu, Bob Blumenfield and Marqueece Harris-Dawson.
