LA Sheriff's Deputies Show How To Shake It In Adorable Dance Off

Los Angeles Sheriff's Deputies show off their moves in a pair of dance-off, lip synch videos.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Everyone knows it takes guts to be a cop, but apparently it also takes rhythm.

As it turns out, deputies with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department are hiding some sick dance moves under those gunbelts. One video making the rounds on social media this week features an impromptu dance off between a deputy in Palmdale and a little boy, who does a mean floss. Another video features a slew of officers showing off their moves in a lip synching mashup.

Sometimes accidents happen for good reasons, and that seems to be the case with an accidental 911 call last week in Palmdale that gave the world this adorable dance off between Deputy Vic Ekanem and a little boy at the home.

"Deputies responded to a home when someone dialed 9-1-1," According to the sheriff's department. "LASD’s S.H.A.R.E Program Deputy & his partner were working in a two man hoop, they noticed the kids seemed timid about deputies responding to their home, therefore they took extra time to make sure everything was ok and the conversation ended in a dance challenge."

As the two compete, it becomes clear the little boy has the edge.

“He’s outdoing you! He’s outdoing you,” shouts Ekaenem’s partner.

Maybe so, but that’s not a bad floss for a man sporting a gun belt and a bulletproof vest in the desert heat.

"Not making any excuses for our Deputy, BUT it was very hot that day and that flashlight kinda threw off his balance," the department noted in a facebook post of the video.

Apparently the rest of the department was moved to get in on the action with the release of a lip sync mashup Wednesday.

In the video deputies tool around on horseback, motorcycle, on the beach and in patrol cars singing “Safe And Sound” by Capital Cities and “Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift.

The video culminates with a challenge, “Hey Orange County, Sheriff’s Department, we want to see what you’ve got.” And it ends with possibly the world’s best mic drop.
