LAPD Staffer Arrested In Mysterious Death Of His Wife And Son

Los Angeles detectives arrested an LAPD employee in the December shooting death of his wife and son in their San Fernando Valley apartment.

LOS ANGELES, CA — The tragic mystery of a mother and teenage son found shot to death in their San Fernando Valley home took a sharp turn Friday with the arrest of a Los Angeles Police Department employee.

Detectives arrested Viktor Glukhovskiy, the man who called 9-1-1 on Dec. 26 to say he arrived home to find his wife and son murdered. Glukhovskiy, 44, is a civilian employee of the LAPD. He was taken into custody Friday morning by Robbery-Homicide Division detectives and booked on suspicion of murder in the deaths of Natali Glukhovskiy, 39, and Alex Glukhovskiy, 13. Their bodies were discovered on Dec. 26, the LAPD reported. He could face the death penalty if ocnvicted on the capital charges. In addition to the murder charges, he was charged with the special circumstance allegations of multiple murders, lying in wait and murder for financial gain.

Glukhovskiy works in the LAPD Security Services Division. He remains jailed on $2 million bail, police said.

"This horrific loss of life is incredibly disturbing, and the fact that the accused is a civilian employee of the LAPD makes it even more troubling," according to an LAPD statement. "No individual is above the law and this department will work feverishly to bring anyone who commits such a violent act to justice."

They mystery rattled the community and made headlines in December when the LAPD reported that the suspect told investigators he arrived home at 11 p.m. on Dec. 26 to the family's apartment in the 13800 block of Oxnard Street to find his wife and their son dead.

Both had been shot.

The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office on Monday for filing consideration, police said.
