A wild police chase in the San Fernando Valley involved several close calls for other drivers and a pedestrian.

SHERMAN OAKS, CA — A police chase that started in North Hollywood ended in Sherman Oaks Monday after the driver of an allegedly stolen pickup truck nearly ran down a pedestrian.

Los Angeles police chased a man spotted driving an allegedly stolen white Toyota Tacoma in the North Hollywood area shortly after 10 a.m., according to LAPD Officer Jeff Lee. Several squad cars and a police helicopter joined the chase as the desperate driver became increasingly erratic. The chase spanned several valley neighborhoods, and the driver nearly nearly ran over a man with a cane crossing a street and almost collided with oncoming traffic multiple times.

In all, the chase only lasted about 15 minutes. It ended peaceably in a residential neighborhood in Sherman Oaks, where the suspect came to a stop and surrendered.
