Good Samaritan Stabbed at Valley Village Gelson's Market:Updated
A man was arrested Monday morning on suspicion of stabbing a bystander who came to the aid of a security guard at a Valley Village Gelson's.

LOS ANGELES, CA -- A man was stabbed Monday in the parking lot of a Gelson's market in the Valley Village area when he went to the aid of a security guard who was detaining a shoplifting suspect, police said.
According to police, a security guard was outside the market at Riverside Drive and Laurel Canyon Boulevard and in the process of detaining a woman suspected of shoplifting when she screamed and her boyfriend tried to intervene about 10 a.m.
"The boyfriend went to help (her), and wanted to attack the loss- prevention officer, when an innocent bystander intervened to try to help the loss-prevention officer, and the suspect stabbed the bystander a couple of times," LAPD Sgt. Leonid Tsap told ABC7.

The victim was taken to a hospital, but his name and a condition report were not immediately released.
His alleged attacker was also taken to a medical center for treatment of cuts apparently sustained during the altercation, then was taken into custody, along with his girlfriend. Their names were not immediately released.
