Man Suspected of Stabbing 2 Adults and a Child Leads Police on Chase

A man suspected of stabbing three people including a young child in Panorama City led police on a chase to Glendale where he was arrested.

PANORAMA CITY, CA -- Two adults and a young child were wounded Sunday in a stabbing attack in Panorama City and a suspect who led police on a pursuit into Glendale has been taken into custody, authorities said.

The attack happened about 1:10 p.m. in the 8800 block of Tobias Avenue, according to Officer Irma Tobias of the LAPD's Media Relations Section. What caused the stabbings and the conditions of the victims were not immediately known.

The victims were hospitalized, Tobias said.

The unidentified suspect fled the area of the attack and then came back to get his vehicle, police said.

Officers -- who apparently knew the identity of the suspect -- were waiting at his Panorama City address and tried to arrest him but failed, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The suspect then drove his car into the Glendale area with police in pursuit.

The chase ended when the suspect's car crashed and flipped over, police said.

The man got out of his vehicle and ran to a construction site near Buckingham Road and Chevy Chase Drive. There he stood atop a partially finished building and crisis negotiations began shortly after that.

The suspect -- whose identity was being withheld -- was taken into custody about 7:45 p.m., an officer at LAPD's Mission Division said.
