UPDATE: Mariah Carey's Brother-in-Law Released After Being Arrested in Studio City in Alleged Robbery-Assault

Gabriel Cannon, a brother of actor Nick Cannon and brother-in-law of singer and actress Mariah Carey, and two associates reportedly were released from custody early Thursday morning without being charged in connection with an alleged assault and robbery following a reality-show business dispute in Studio City.

The dispute began about 6 p.m. Wednesday on a set at ICU Network production company, near Ventura Boulevard and Colfax Avenue, and the suspects were released from custody about 1:30 a.m. Thursday, Los Angeles police Sgt. Frank Albarran of North Hollywood Station said.

The suspects were released when detectives determined that the alleged victims, Alex and Alejo Moreno, gave conflicting statements and that the property they said had been stolen by the suspects did not belong to the father and son, Albarran said.

The Morenos, who worked with Cannon and his two associates, met Wednesday at the production company set, when the men robbed them, beat them and took their jewelry, they said.

"My dad goes around the front and he sees them taking our cameras out
through the front,'' Alejo Moreno told KCAL. "They took both of our cameras, the ones we work with every day.''

Alex Moreno told KCAL, "They robbed us and beat us. They were all in the building. They tried taking our jewelry, they took my platinum cross, they tried ripping my watch off, and our diamond earrings.''

Detectives were still investigating to whom the allegedly stolen items belonged, Albarran said.
