I am a little confused. George McKenna’s letter does exactly what the article says. He refuses to take a position on the biggest issue facing the district. Staying neutral on the Superintendent is not an option. Certainly not to the teachers sitting at home under house arrest without due process. Not to the students attending schools that cannot be repaired because those funds have been diverted to the purchase of iPads. Not to the parents who are ignored during board meetings.
While McKenna is correct that It is supposed to be the Board who sets policy and supervises the Superintendent, that is not how the system is currently working. If McKenna cannot see that he is not the candidate who will bring the change that the district needs. I hope that the voters of District 1 will look at Sherlett Hendy-Newbill instead.
