Multi-Car Pileup Closes Hollywood Freeway in North Hollywood

All lanes are reopened following the sIGalert and crash that left one person injured.

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA -- One person was injured Thursday on the southbound Hollywood (170) Freeway in North Hollywood in a multiple-vehicle crash that temporarily shut down freeway lanes, authorities said.

The collision was reported at 5:30 a.m. near Magnolia Avenue, said California Highway Patrol Officer Tony Polizzi.

The crash was initially reported to have involved three vehicles, but Polizzi said five tow trucks were summoned to the scene.

The gender, age and condition of the injured person were not immediately reported.

A SigAlert was issued at 5:54 a.m., and all southbound lanes with the exception of the No. 4 lane were shut down to accommodate investigators. The SigAlert was cancelled at 7:10 a.m., according to the CHP. The crash was under investigation.
