Murder Suspect Leads Police On Chase To North Hollywood

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA — A murder suspect led police on a high-speed chase from Ontario to North Hollywood, where he was taken into custody around midnight Monday.

Gilbert Conorquie, a 31-year-old North Hollywood resident, is in custody today on suspicion of murder, felony evading, and weapons violations, according to the Ontario Police Department.

Ontario police were called to the 1700 block of East D Street at about 11:25 p.m. Monday on a report of a possible shooting.

"The suspect, Gilbert Conorquie, a 31-year-old North Hollywood resident, was involved in an altercation with the victim in front of a residence," police said in a statement. "During the altercation, Conorquie shot the victim multiple times and fled the scene."

Police did not release the identity of the victim pending notification of the person's next-of-kin.

"Officers responding to the call saw Conorquie drive away from the location at a high rate of speed," police said. "Conorquie refused to yield, at which time a vehicle pursuit began. The pursuit ended in the city of North Hollywood, when Conorquie decided to pull over and comply with officers."

A firearm was recovered from his vehicle, according to the Ontario Police Department.
