Brazilian Blowout receives a warning letter saying its product contains formaldehyde and is 'adulterated' despite the company saying its product is safe.

The North Hollywood-based company Brazilian Blowout has come under FDA scrutiny for its popular hair-straightening products and is making national headlines.

Both MSNBC and and the New York Post have run stories in the last two days concerning allegations the product Brazilian Blowout, which is manufactured by its parent company, GIB LLC, is unsafe.

Today, MSNC reports that the FDA sent the company a warning saying their product contains formaldehyde despite the company's claims to the contrary.

"Brazilian Blowout is misbranded because its label and labeling (including instructions for use) makes misleading statements regarding the product's ingredients and fails to reveal material facts with respect to consequences that may result from the use of the product," MSNC reported that Michael W. Roosevelt wrote, who is the acting director of the Office of Compliance at the FDA's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition.
