NHHS Reunion Sunday Will Feature Many Notable Alums
The all North Hollywood High School alumni reunion is set for Sunday.
The North Hollywood High School all alumni reunion. Our friend Jack McGrath, who is helping organize the event, sent us the following press release about some of the notable people who will be attending:
Many Huskie graduates went into the entertainment industry, but none knew more insiders, outsiders, bad actors, and good actors than Steve Papazian. Steve attended NHHS and graduated in 1962.
He was short in height, but a mile high in stature. He was known for his perfectly painted and detailed automobiles. He went to work after high school at the Warner Bros. studios mailroom. Jack McGrath, who wrote this article caught up with Pepe (steve's nickname) at the Burbank Studios in 1970. He was no mailroom guy, but was running the production facility with some other guy, who might be in jail today.

About this time, a water Huskie named Jim Herrick was teaching the children of Hollywood's Star, to be water safe and not become a statistic in their own palatial pools in the San Fernando Valley. Jim's clients are a who's who of Hollywood entertainment. The grandkids of John Wayne, Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, Annette Funicillo, and Carl Weathers, yes Apollo Creed Himself were all students of the Jim Herrick Swim School.
A few years before this, a young kid was being eyed by a future Mega Star at Burbank Boulevard School. Yes, the all league basketball star in 1962 at NHHS was being eyed in 1957 by Cherie Sarkasian, later to become Cher. Cher, in her authorized biography, The First Time, said Milt Brodleit had the most loving eyelashes. Nothing about his baritone voice, and strong physical presence, but his "long" lashes. Milt did not react to the advances, but if he had, we would have had the "Milton and Cher Show."

About this same time, a young blond boy was showing his stuff. He had a set of dimples that would make the heart of a hot 12-year-old girl go bananas. He graduated from NHHS and went to Valley College. One of his high school buds, Jack McGrath (who wrote all of these bloated statements) asked Robin to take off and go to Europe. They saved their dollars, and flew in February, 1965 to Europe, with a stop in Iceland, to see the seals.
Robin could have been a young Robert Redford, but went into production. His list of credits include "Wings," "The A- Team," with Mr. T, a transfer to NHHS, "MacGyyer," "Get Real", and "24." He has worked for the best television creators in the business.
In 1968, Clint Eastwood started his production company, The Malpaso Company on the Warne Bros lot. Papazian was making his moves at Warner Bros., Chamberlin was in Nice France with McGrath, and Herick was blowing bubbles with the Everly Bros. Herrick saved Don's daughter, Suzie, from drowning, thus the song, "Wake up Little Suzie, Wake Up."
What happened to Cher's first love, Milt? Milt went to California State Northridge, and reconnected with McGrath as members of Delta Upsilon, a national fraternity. McGrath had his own house (rented) and gave a room to a short San Fernando kid named Rich Marin. He met a Chinese guy after college named Tommy, and they became Cheech and Chong. I have reached my limit with the Patch, word wise. Papazian is vacationing in Greece, and will win the prize for traveling the longest to attend the picnic. We can say one thing binds the long friendship of these men. They were Mighty Mighty Huskies, and they all will be at the Huskie picnic on Sunday, June 26 in the Quad to sign autographs
