UNIVERSAL CITY, CA -- Harry Potter will be getting some company at Universal Studios Hollywood, courtesy of Nintendo.

The theme park announced Tuesday that a new Nintendo-themed area will be added to the park at an undetermined date. It will feature attractions, shops and restaurants based on characters and worlds from hugely popular video games such as Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong and Pokemon.

Similar areas will be built at Universal theme parks in Orlando and Osaka, Japan.

Although the park is not yet providing a timeline for when the project will be complete, officials did say that planning and creative work on the areas is already well underway.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, an immersive area of the park dedicated to the films based on J.K. Rowling's books, opened at Universal Studios Hollywood last summer, a few years after a similar area opened at Universal's Orlando resort.
