North Hollywood Man Pleads to Scamming Elderly Women
A North Hollywood man will have to pay full restitution to women he targeted with a loan modification scam.

A North Hollywood man accused of bilking three women out of thousands of dollars while claiming to be helping them to get mortgage modifications pleaded no contest today to a count of grand theft.
Jovanny Malka, 30, is facing 30 days of community labor and three years on probation for his plea to grand theft of personal property exceeding $950, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Malka is also expected to pay full restitution to the three women, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

He was accused of taking a total of more than $50,000 from three women aged 67, 69 and 72, a prosecutor said.
Malka is set to be sentenced Jan. 8 in San Fernando.
