North Hollywood Woman Killed Walking on the 170 Freeway

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA A 55-year-old woman was struck and killed by a motorist today while walking on the Hollywood (170) Freeway in North Hollywood.

The woman suffered her injuries at about 12:40 a.m. on the northbound freeway, north of Victory Boulevard, when she was walking in the roadway from the number three lane toward the right shoulder in an eastern direction -- and into the path of a 2005 Scion XA, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Paramedics rushed the woman to Kaiser Permanente Panorama City Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 6:32 a.m.

The driver of the Scion, a 43-year-old woman from North Hollywood, was not arrested.
