North Hollywood Woman Used Postal Key for Burglary Spree, Police Allege
Police believe a North Hollywood Woman went on a crime spree through West LA.
North Hollywood, CA- A 42-year-old woman was arrested in connection with a burglary in West Los Angeles during which a postal key was used to get onto the premises, and investigators said today they believe she may have been involved in other such crimes.
Dawn Belmonte was taken into custody June 29, after a search warrant was served in North Hollywood, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
An investigation by detectives following an April burglary in West Los Angeles allegedly "revealed that ... Belmonte had utilized a postal key to bypass an apartment's locked exterior door and accessed the underground structure, where she subsequently stole a bicycle and broke into a car," according to an LAPD statement.

"The items recovered during the search of Belmonte's residence appear to have been taken in additional incidents of theft and burglary in other parts of the city," police said. "It is believed Belmonte may be involved in additional residential burglaries and or mail thefts throughout Los Angeles and neighboring jurisdictions."
Belmonte was being held without bail at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood pending a July 19 appearance at the Airport Courthouse, according to sheriff's online inmate records.
