Nurse Stabbed Outside Valley Hospital In Reportedly Random Attack

Los Angeles police are looking for a man who stabbed a nurse in the neck outside Mission Community Hospital.

PANORAMA CITY, CA — A nurse was in critical condition after being stabbed outside a Panorama City hospital, and police are searching for his attacker today.

The attack, which is believed to be random, occurred outside the emergency room of Mission Community Hospital at 14850 Roscoe Boulevard shortly before 7 p.m. Monday. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a hooded man dressed in black stabbed the nurse in the neck and fled.

The nurse was flown to a nearby trauma center in critical condition. Investigators don't believe the nurse and attacker exchanged words prior to the stabbing, Fox11 reported. The nurse's hand was also injured when the attacker pulled the knife out of his neck, Fox11 reported.

The victim is a 49-year-old nurse at Mission Community Hospital.

The suspect left the scene before police arrived and was described as a man between 40 and 50 years old, is about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs about 140 pounds, according to police. The suspect was last seen wearing a black hat, black hooded sweatshirt and a backpack.
