"We're thrilled that the Orange Line Extension will open earlier than anticipated and that the contractor is completing it well within budget," said Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who chairs the Metro Board of Directors.

According to Metro, the extension includes new bus platforms at the Canoga Park station and an elevated crossing at Lassen Street in Chatsworth to separate the busway from the Metrolink railroad tracks. There will also be a park-and-ride lot at the Sherman Way station and additional parking at the Chatsworth station.
The existing Orange Line between Canoga Park and North Hollywood has more than 25,000 daily boardings, according to Metro.
