Partial Lockdown Lifted at Burbank Police Station

The FBI, USPS Inspector and Burbank Police are investigating the incident.

A white powder in an envelope opened by an employee prompted the partial lockdown of Burbank police headquarters this afternoon.

An employee opened the envelope, which was addressed to the police department, about 2:35 p.m. and noticed there was a white powder inside, Burbank police Sgt. Claudio Losacco said.

“The administrative offices of the police building were cordoned off and the Burbank Fire Department responded with their hazmat team,” the sergeant said. “Our partners with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department hazmat team also responded.”

The powder was deemed to be no threat about 5 p.m. and the building at 200 N. Third St. was cleared for occupancy, Losacco said.

“The Burbank Police Department will lead a multi-agency investigation, which will include the FBI and the United States Postal Inspector,” Losacco said.
