Pileup Causes Rush Hour SigAlert on Ventura (134) Freeway

Traffic was brutal slog Friday morning heading out on the 134 Freeway.

GLENDALE, CA - A multivehicle crash on the Ventura (134) Freeway in Glendale shut down four of five lanes this morning, causing a backup stretching for miles at the start of rush hour, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The collision involving at least three cars took place on the westbound 134 Freeway just west of the Golden State (5) Freeway about 4:30 a.m., said CHP Officer Tony Polizzi.

The crash initially shut down all westbound lanes, but the No. 5 lane was reopened, allowing traffic to inch along, according to the CHP. The other four lanes remained closed and a SigAlert was declared by the CHP at 4:49 a.m. The lanes were reopened about 90 minutes later.
