Police Blotter: Watch for Purse Snatchers on Halloween

Officer Jennifer DuVally, a senior lead officer in North Hollywood for the Los Angeles Police Department, said she is seeing a rise in crime. 

"We are always talking about crimes being down, but in my area I am seeing a rise in violent crimes. Robbery and aggravated assault is up and I am seeing more street robbery," said DuValley.

Officer Mike Lewis said that Halloween can be an easy night for street theft.

"Purse snatching and  robbery are what we deal with all night on Halloween, and the suspects can't be identified because they are wearing a disguise." Lewis said. 

His plea is for parents to just "not carry a purse when you are out trick-or-treating with your child."

Police are also still trying to solve a shooting that happened in North Hollywood on Oct. 17.

"We are still looking for the alleged shooter in a murder at a taco stand at Lankershim Boulevard and Sherman Way in North Hollywood,"  Captain Justin Eisenberg said, as police this week released a composite sketch of the suspect.
