Police Find Cache of Drugs and Weapons at Honey Oil Lab in North Hollywood

Two brothers were arrested in connection with an alleged drug lab and weapons cache in North Hollywood.

Two brothers who are suspected gang members were arrested on suspicion of possessing weapons, concentrated cannabis and the chemicals needed to concentrate the drug, authorities said today.

Hakop Nagapetian, 25, and Berg Nagapetian, 23, were arrested Thursday at their father’s residence in the 12000 block of Gilmore Street, near Laurel Canyon Boulevard, in North Hollywood, said the Glendale Police Department’s Tahnee Lightfoot.

“A search of the residence revealed a sawed-off shotgun, handgun, ammunition and AR-15 large-capacity magazines,” Lightfoot said.

The arrest was made by a task force responsible for checking the compliance of lower-level offenders paroled under a law to reduce the number of inmates in state prison, Lightfoot said.

Hakop Nagapetian is on formal probation relating to a firearms case, Lightfoot said.

Both suspects had ties to Glendale and Burbank, Lightfoot said.

Officers discovered an elaborate butane honey oil lab, several pounds of marijuana, more than 130 bottles of butane fuel and cooking products. They also found “a significant amount” of concentrated cannabis, packaging and a ledger containing $21,000 in cash, Lightfoot said.

Safes found in bedroom closets contained more than 800 rounds of ammunition, she said.

Authorities also searched the home of a relative of the brothers in the 12000 block of Oxnard Street, near Laurel Canyon Boulevard, in North Hollywood and seized high-powered rifles, including three assault weapons, along with two unregistered handguns and a sawed-off shotgun, Lightfoot said.
