Police: Trainer Charged with Abuse for Leaving Baby in Car During Workout

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA - A 25-year-old man was arrested and booked on a charge of child endangerment after allegedly leaving his 8-month-old girl in an unlocked car with the engine running for an hour as he met with a client at a north Hollywood gym, according to police.

Solomon Allen, a personal trainer, was arrested Friday at 1 p.m. by Los Angeles police after law enforcement was notified by a maintenance worker who found the girl in the parked car in the garage below the 24-hour Fitness gym, according to ABC7 News.

"He knew the baby was abandoned inside the car," Jose Rivera, the man's maintenance supervisor, told ABC7. "The baby just seemed really bothered in the baby seat and just constantly crying.

Police came and rescued the baby who was taken to a hospital for a checkup before being released to her mother, ABC7 reported.

"It's extremely careless and it's very selfish to leave an infant that's 8 months old in a car with the motor running, unlocked in a parking structure at a public business," LAPD Capt. Stephen Carmona told the TV station.

Allen was booked and released about 4 a.m. This morning after posting $100,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned May 25 at Van Nuys Superior Court, according to jail records.
