VIDEO: A Boot Camp for Sign Spinners

They're all over Los Angeles. They're typically students in their late teens or early twenties and can be found standing on any given street corner, frantically spinning an arrow-shaped sign that bears the name of a sandwich shop or the prospect of low-interest financing.

But there is a behind-the-scenes to the world of sign spinning advertising and like most jobs, there is also training.

Every Wednesday, employees of AArrow, a now international company that stations sign spinners throughout the city, meet at North Hollywood Park to practice moves like the necktie or Bruce Lee.

They often can be seen practicing on the corner of Magnolia Boulevard and Tujunga Avenue.

It's a profession that requires good hand-eye coordination as well as a good smile.
