Recognize this Bank Robber?

Police believe a middle-aged woman wearing a headscarf attempted to rob an LA bank for successfully robbing a Burbank bank Friday.

LOS ANGELES, CA -- An investigation was underway Friday into a bank robbery carried out in Burbank by a woman who may have attempted a similar crime the same day near the Hancock Park section of Los Angeles.

The Burbank robbery occurred about 2:30 p.m. Thursday at a US Bank branch at 1750 W. Olive Ave., according to Burbank police Sgt. Claudio Losacco.

Employees reported the woman handed a teller a note demanding money and fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash, Losacco said.

The suspect was last seen on foot heading south on Orchard Drive, he said.

"The Burbank Police Department is aware of a similar bank robbery at a Bank of America Branch in the city of Los Angeles that also took place (Thursday)," Losacco said. "We are working with our partners at the FBI and (Los Angeles Police Department) to determine if the incidents are related."

The Bank of America robbery attempt occurred about 5 p.m. Thursday at the BofA branch at 100 N. Larchmont Blvd., according to the FBI, which reported that in both cases, the woman's note indicated she had a gun.

As described in connection with the Burbank robbery, the suspect is white, 40-50 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 110 pounds. She was wearing a gray long-sleeved sweater, gray pants, an aqua blue scarf about her head and face, black shoes and thick-rimmed glasses.
