Republican 30th District Candidates Weigh in on Obama's Plan
Susan Shelly and Mark Reed remind Patch readers of the Republican alternatives to the two Democratic incumbents who represent the San Fernando Valley.

Yesterday, the two congressmen who represent the San Fernando Valley, Brad Sherman and Howard Berman, about President Obama's economic speech.
Sherman and Berman will likely be running against each other in the new 30th Congressional District as a result of redistricting.
After posting their comments, we were contacted by two Republican candidates for the 30th, Mark Reed and Susan Shelly.

Shelly's campaign Web site is still in the works, but she offered these comments via email:

He said, "We need a bolder spending program over the next 2 years to get us out of this recession, but if and only if it is paired with an even bolder program to reduce the deficit over the next 10 years."
It's unbelievable that with small business owners in California struggling to keep their doors open, Brad Sherman is calling for even higher taxes -- or as he puts it, "an even bolder program to reduce the deficit" -- on them. For a CPA, he sure is bad at math.
