Salon.com Names Iliad as One of America's Best Indie Book Stores

Those who have stepped inside the doors of the in North Hollywood know how spectacular it is. We here at Patch do as well, as we have profiled the store not but.

The national online magazine Salon has now taken notice, too, and named the Iliad as one of America's nine best independent book stores.

"The Iliad reminds me somewhat of Ollivander’s wand shop, with its ladders and step stools in every aisle to access the hard-to-reach shelves," wrote Salon writer Victoria Carlson. "It’s a bit dusty and the floors are creaky and the sofas are worn. It’s a cozy haven on a rainy afternoon and a quiet respite from the minutiae of a busy day."

We couldn't agree more. Last year Patch writer Tiffany Kelly : "Tucked away from the bustling NoHo Arts District and a short walk from mid-century furniture warehouses, the book shop feels like a secret you accidentally stumbled upon."

Salon was the world's first online-only magazine and launched way back in the Internet's wild west days of 1995. It has a liberal slant and focuses on politics, music, books and films.
