SigAlert: Crash Shuts Down Four Lanes Of The 118 Freeway

The California Highway Patrol expected the SigAlert to last about an hour.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A major crash shut down several lanes of the westbound Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway in the Mission Hills area Monday afternoon.

Shortly before 1:30 p.m., the California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert for the 118 Freeway just east of Woodley Avenue. Four lanes —the 2, 3, 4 and 5 lanes — were blocked by the crash, and authorities expected most of the westbound side of the freeway to remain closed for about an hour.

The crash backed up traffic for miles, and commuters were advised to avoid the area.
