SigAlert: Jackknifed Chiquita Banana Truck Jams 5, 134 Freeways
Commuters are advised to avoid the area around the Golden State (5) and Ventura (134) freeways in the Glendale area.
GLENDALE, CA — A jackknifed big rig filled with bananas blocked the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway north for more than three hours Tuesday. The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert for the transition from the Ventura (134) Freeway expected to last until nearly 3:30 p.m.
The crash involving a Chiquita banana truck blocked several lanes of the northbound 5 near the Ventura (134) Freeway in the Glendale area. The crash occurred shortly after 11 a.m. near the Western Avenue offramp from the northbound 5 Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol. The big rig blocked most lanes of the freeway for nearly two hours.

Shortly before 1 p.m., the CHP reported that the carpool and # 1 lanes had reopened, but the transition from the westbound (134) Freeway remained closed.
