SigAlert: Truck Fire And Fuel Spill Snarls 5 Freeway In Burbank
A truck fire shut down the northbound lanes of the Golden State (5) Freeway in the Burbank area Thursday.
LOS ANGELES, CA — A box truck became detached and caught fire in a crash on the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway in the Burbank area Thursday afternoon, backing up traffic for miles.
The box truck carrying a load of paper blocked two lanes on the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway at Olive Avenue, prompting the California Highway Patrol to issue a SigAlert. The truck also spilled some of its diesel fuel, prompting authorities to close all northbound lanes while crews work to clear the scene. The crash occurred shortly after 12:30 p.m. Thursday, and authorities did not have an estimate for when the freeway would reopen.
