Los Angeles firefighters battled to contain the blaze at about a quarter-acre of brush while protecting a nearby home.

PACOIMA, CA — A fire scorched about a quarter-acre of brush Tuesday in Pacoima, briefly threatening at least one home but resulting in no damage, authorities said.

Firefighters were sent to the 12600 block of West Garber Street at 12:05 p.m., said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

"The first arriving 50 LAFD ground personnel, supported by precise helicopter water drops from LAFD Air Operations, took just 30 minutes to hold the fire to one-quarter acre of light brush," Humphrey said.
