Burning Smell Forces United Flight Out of LAX to Make Emergency Landing
A United flight from LAX had to be diverted to Ontario for a safe landing.

A United Airlines jetliner on a flight from Los Angeles International Airport, bound for Washington Dulles International Airport, made an emergency landing in Ontario today after the crew reported a burning smell aboard the plane.
“United (flight) 1181, a Boeing 757 from LAX to Dulles, declared an emergency and diverted to Ontario,” Ian Gregor of the Federal Aviation Administration said. “The aircraft landed without incident around 9 a.m.”
The aircraft had 199 passengers and seven crew members, according to the airline.

“The flight landed safely after diverting ... due to reports of a burning smell,” according to United. “Our maintenance team is reviewing the aircraft, and we’re working as quickly as possible to get our customers to Washington ...”
No injuries were reported.
