'So You Think You Can Dance' Champion Charged with Attacking Girlfriend
A dancer violated a restraining order, chased a woman into a coffeeshop and attacked her until bystanders intervene, police allege.

North Hollywood, CA -- The winner of the fourth season of the Fox reality- competition series "So You Think You Can Dance" was charged today with repeatedly attacking his girlfriend and violating a retraining order.
Joshua Demon Allen, 27, of North Hollywood, faces more than 10 years in prison if convicted of two felony counts of injuring a girlfriend after a prior conviction, one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon, two misdemeanor counts of violating a domestic-relations criminal protective order and single misdemeanor counts of simple battery and vandalism under $400.
According to the District Attorney's Office, Allen was convicted in January of injuring his girlfriend after a protective order had been issued. He allegedly assaulted and choked the same woman on April 13 and again on June 19, when he allegedly chased her into a coffee shop, threw a glass vase at her, attacked a man who tried to intervene and vandalized the store, prosecutors said.

He was eventually subdued by good Samaritans in the store, according to the District Attorney's Office.
Allen, a Texas native, is expected to be arraigned today at the Airport Branch Courthouse. Prosecutors plan to ask that his bail be set at $270,000.
Allen won the Fox series "So You Think You Can Dance" in 2008, and also appeared in the 2010 Film "Step Up 3D" and the 2011 remake of "Footloose."
