Standoff Shuts Down Studio City Neighborhood

Police responded to reports of gunfire Thursday, found a domestic violence scene and a barricaded suspect who may be armed.

STUDIO CITY, CA — A report of gunfire led to an ongoing standoff with a domestic violence suspect in Studio City early Thursday morning.

Los Angeles police believe an armed suspect may be barricaded inside a building in the 10900 block of Bluffside Drive. Officers were called to the area shortly before 5 a.m. to respond to a report of a shooting.

According to CBS Los Angeles, officers found a domestic violence incident in which someone may have shot themselves in the leg.

The standoff prompted police to shut down surrounding neighborhoods including Bluffside Drive, near Vineland. A portion of the parking lot in an adjacent shopping center that's home to a Rite Aid and a Ralphs grocery store has also been taped off.

Some evacuations were reported in the area, and the standoff was continuing more than five hours afterward.
