Stunt Biker Killed Trying To Elude Police On 5 Freeway: CHP

A young man among a group of bikers who blocked traffic to film motorcycle stunts reportedly crashed and died trying to get away from police

ARLETA, CA — A motorcycle rider who was among a group that was filming stunts died Thursday morning in a crash on an offramp from the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway in Arleta while reportedly attempting to elude CHP officers who were trying to pull him over.

A group of about 10 motorcycle riders had stopped traffic while they were being filmed doing tricks on the freeway near the Terra Bella Street exit at 1:35 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Just after 1:40 a.m. it was reported a rider was down and unconscious on the Terra Bella Street offramp, the CHP said.

The rider, described only as a male, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the CHP. His name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives.

According to reports from the scene, the motorcyclist, in his 20s, crashed while attempting to elude CHP officers who were trying to pull him over.

The Terra Bella Street offramp was closed until 5:37 a.m., the CHP said.
