Take a Look at Proposed New City Council Districts

See the possible new boundaries for CD2 and CD4.

Andrew J. Westall, executive director of the Los Angeles City Council Redistricting Commission and , has made available more detailed maps of Los Angeles' proposed City Council district boundaries. You can view them here on Patch.

The boundaries, if applied, would . Among the changes:

  • CD2, which is represented by Councilman Paul Krekorian, would include all of North Hollywood, all of Toluca Lake, all of Studio City and most of Valley Village. CD2 would add the NoHo Arts District to the large portion of North Hollywood already included in the district. Krekorian would be the only representative for Studio City, which is now also shared with Tom LaBonge and Paul Koretz. CD2 would lose the Sunland area.
  • CD4, which is represented by Councilman Tom LaBonge, would be almost completely redrawn in the Valley. Aside from most the territory over the hill, CD4 would lose North Hollywood, Studio City and Toluca Lake, while adding areas in Sherman Oaks, Encino and Van Nuys. It will includes a small part of Hollywood and stretch from Griffith Park to the Sepulveda Basin, including the hills around Mulholland Drive.
  • Most of Valley Village will be in CD2, as it is now, and a portion on the west would be moved to CD4. Currently, CD5, represented by Councilman Paul Koretz, includes a small western portion of Valley Village.
  • CD6, which is represented by Councilman Tony Cardenas, would no longer include any of the northern portions of North Hollywood. The border between CD2 and CD6 would be the North Hollywood/Sun Valley borders, the same borders the North Hollywood North East Neighborhood Council and NoHo West Neighborhood Council share with the Sun Valley Neighborhood Council.
  • This is a side note perhaps, but CD2 will also be nearly identical to the coverage area of North Hollywood-Toluca Lake Patch and Studio City Patch.

The commission also has Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LACCRC) and Twitter accounts (@LACCRC) to keep the public informed.
