A fire destroyed a pumpkin patch and its popular maze Monday afternoon in Toluca Lake

TOLUCA LAKE, CA — A fire destroyed a pumpkin patch and its popular maze Monday afternoon in Toluca Lake, but no one was injured.
The fire was reported about 1:55 p.m. in the 4500 block of North Cahuenga Boulevard near the southbound Hollywood (101) Freeway, according to Amy Bastman of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Firefighters kept the flames from spreading to a building on the property, but the pumpkin patch and maze -- which had been scheduled to be open through Halloween -- was left in smoldering ruins, according to Bastman and a report from the scene.

Thirty-one firefighters responded and knocked the fire down by 2:18 p.m., Bastman said. There was no immediate word on what sparked the flames.
Firefighters had to shut down the Cahuenga Boulevard off-ramp from the southbound Hollywood (101) Freeway, according to Amy Bastman of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Afternoon commuters can expect traffic on the eastbound 101 Freeway, and southbound Cahuenga Boulevard.
