Tujunga Brush Fire Contained

A small debris fire atop a ridge in Tujunga was contained Thursday morning before the wind could push it into dense brush nearby.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles firefighters made quick work of a small brush fire in the Tujunga area Thursday morning.

According to Los Angeles Fire Department Brian Humphrey, crews mounted an aggressive response to contain the hilltop fire in the 7400 block of West Verdugo Crestline Drive.

The fire was first reported shortly after 7 a.m. A debris pile was burning spreading to roughly one-eighth of an acre.

"The well-coordinated ground and air response from LAFD and allied agencies held and has now fully contained the flames of a rubbish/debris fire... before the fire could be spread by light wind into nearby medium-density brush," said Humphrey.

The fire was reported contained by 8 p.m.

There were no injuries or structures threatened in the blaze. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
