Valley Community Clinic Honors Actor Corbin Bernsen, Celebrates 40 Years

The non-profit clinic provides health services for thousands of low-income patients in the San Fernando Valley.

The Valley Community Clinic of North Hollywood celebrated its 40th Anniversary  on October 19 at the in Studio City in a star-studded gala that featured appearance's by comedienne's Lily Tomlin and Wendy Liebman as well as a special award for actor Corbin Bernsen.

The non-profit clinic, which Patch has visited several times for profiles on its work with low-income patients, HIV/AIDS outreach efforts and new prenatal clinic, is a 45,000-square-foot medical and educational center that serves approximately 90,000 patients a year.

Scott Aney, Senior Vice President and Regional Manager, City National bank, accepted the Health Champion award on behalf of the banking institution, which was presented by Pegi Matsuda, publisher of the San Fernando Valley Business Journal. The Bank has been a corporate partner of Valley Community Clinic since 2008.

Actor Harry Hamlin, who starred on the hit NBC drama L.A. Law, presented the clinic’s 2011 Health Champion Award to his friend and L.A. Law co-star, actor Corbin Bernsen, who currently appears on USA’s hit show Psych.  Bernsen was born in North Hollywood and recently purchased a home in Valley Village.

"Valley Community Clinic is the answer to the healthcare problem," said Bernsen, according to a press release, which stated that Bernsen's speech about his personal commitment to the clinic drew a standing ovation from the crowd of Clinic supporters.
